The Public Health Agency of Sweden: Persons over the age of 70 should limit their social contacts

The Public Health Agency of Sweden (Folkhälsomyndigheten) is urging persons over the age of 70 to limit their contacts with other people as far as possible for some time to come.

The number of cases of COVID-19 is continuing to rise around the world. More than 1,000 cases of the disease have been reported in Sweden thus far, and there are signs of community transmission, particularly in the Stockholm area. Additional measures to slow the spread and protect the most vulnerable are therefore needed. Persons over the age of 70 are now urged to avoid, as far as possible, crowds that may arise in areas such as public transport, shops or public premises.

Employers who have the option of letting employees work from home may consider recommending that. This could have some dampening effect on the dissemination - and thus relieve healthcare services - especially in the Stockholm region.
