Electrical injury

If someone has received an electric shock, you must cut off the power supply. Be careful not to get injured yourself. You can turn off the main switch without risk to yourself.

  • Check that the person is breathing and has a pulse.
  • Ask others for help, call 112 and request an ambulance.
  • Start CPR if the person is not breathing on their own or has no pulse.
  • If the heart has stopped and there is a defibrillator available, use it. The machine will give you instructions.
  • Seek medical attention if you have received an electric shock. Even if you feel fine, you may have internal injuries.
  • It is important to be examined thoroughly.
