If the internet and telephone services go down

Swedish Radio P4 is an emergency channel and will continue to broadcast in the event of a crisis or war. You should therefore ensure that you can listen to the radio even in the event of a power cut or internet outage.

Useful to have at home:

• a radio powered by batteries, solar panels or a hand crank
• spare batteries
• a list of important telephone numbers on paper
• a charged power bank (spare battery) for your mobile phone
• a mobile phone charger that can be used in the car.

More tips

• Charge your electrical devices in advance if you know a storm is on the way.
• Have different mobile phone contracts within the family. If one network provider experiences disruption, others may still be working. If you live alone, you could have a pay-as-you-go SIM card from an alternative provider, which you can use in the event of disruption.
• Find out if your local authority has emergency centres and where they are located. At a local safety hub, you can get information and charge your mobile.

Call 112 in the event of telecoms disruptions

If your network provider has no coverage or is experiencing an outage where you are, your call to 112 may be routed via another provider’s network. This is known as emergency roaming.

If the call still does not go through, do the following:

• Remove the SIM card and dial 112 again.
• Go to the nearest fire station. If all operators’ networks are down, local authorities may provide the option to make emergency calls at designated locations. In many places, fire stations are used for this purpose.
