Groundwater levels remain low
Following a dry summer, there is still a risk of water shortages in large parts of Götaland and Svealand, according to the SMHI and the SGU (the Geological Survey of Sweden).

In large parts of Götaland and Svealand, groundwater levels are well below the seasonal norm in both small and large aquifers. Levels are expected to remain low well into the autumn.
The SMHI and SGU have issued advisories about the risk of water shortages that affect groundwater or watercourses in 15 counties.
The reason for the low levels is that there has not been sufficient rainfall this year and that there was already a deficit from last year. This, combined with a dry summer in the southern parts of the country, according to the SGU.
