Store and save water

Residents in Kumla and Hallsberg municipalities are advised to store water and, from Monday onwards, use it sparingly. This is due to damage to a water main.

Due to a water leak, the water supply may be restricted in the municipalities of Kumla and Hallsberg. Residents are therefore urged to prepare by storing water and, from Monday onwards, to use it sparingly. Access to drinking water will depend on how long it takes to repair the damage to the water main.

This advice does not apply to those with their own well or to those living in Hjortkvarn, Björnhammar or Vretstorp.

Home water supplies

  • Allow for at least three to five litres of water per person per day. Remember that pets also need water.
  • Store extra drinking water in containers or bottles.
  • Freeze water in PET bottles. The bottles can serve both as ice packs and as a supply of drinking water.
  • Keep a water container at home so that you can collect water from a collection point if necessary.

Save water

  • Take a shower instead of a bath.
  • Shower for a shorter time than usual and turn off the tap whilst you soap yourself in.
  • Turn off the tap whilst brushing your teeth.
  • Avoid washing up under running water.
  • Run the dishwasher and washing machine only when they are full.
  • Keep a jug of water in the fridge so you have cold water ready, rather than letting the tap run until the water turns cold.
