What happens?

During Monday, the wind will increase between a low pressure on the Arctic Ocean and a high pressure over southern Sweden. On the bare mountains 18-24 m/s, on the high mountains 23-30 m/s. Monday morning, mainly in the western mountains, also increasing snowfall that will turn into rain quite quickly. Smaller amounts are expected in the southern part of the warning area. Wind and rain will ease overnight into Tuesday.

Description of incident

During the night towards Monday, the southwest and west winds will increase, on the bare mountains very strong winds, on the high mountains storms. On Monday morning, there will also be snowfall that will turn into rain.

What should I think about?

Do not hike in mountainous areas if you are inexperienced. It can be difficult to move and set up or anchor tents. In connection with drifting snow, it can be difficult to orientate due to reduced visibility. There is a risk of frostbite due to degree below zero or rain.

Even in the lowlands it can be windy with very strong gusts of wind or storms, this applies mainly in the northernmost Lapland mountains.
