Risk of water shortages in several counties

Too little rain during the spring, combined with a deficit from the winter, has led to low groundwater levels in large parts of Sweden. The situation regarding the risk of water shortages may vary locally. For information about the water situation where you are, contact your local municipality. Be aware of any watering restrictions and follow the municipality's instructions!

SMHI and SGU have issued water shortage warnings in the following counties due to low groundwater levels or low flows in watercourses:

  • Jönköping County
  • Kalmar County
  • Kronoberg County
  • Södermanland County
  • Västra Götaland County
  • Gotland County
  • Blekinge County
  • Skåne County
  • Stockholm County
  • Uppsala County
  • Örebro County
  • Östergötland County
