Terrorism threat level raised

The terrorism threat level has been raised from elevated to high, reports the Swedish Security Service (“Säkerhetspolisen” or “Säpo”).

The reason is a worsened situation regarding the threat of attacks in Sweden. The authority predicts that the threat will persist for a long time.

The decision is not based on a particular event.

The threat level is being raised from elevated (3) to high (4) on a five-point scale. The rise is a signal to all stakeholders in society about the importance of continuing the work to reduce the risk of a terrorist attack occurring.

The different threat levels on the scale are:

  • no identified threat (1)
  • limited threat (2)
  • elevated threat (3)
  • high threat (4)
  • very high threat (5)
