Several roads cut off after heavy rainfall in Västernorrland County

There has been a fatal car accident in Härnösand municipality. According to initial reports, there was a landslide on county road 738 and the road was washed away. The car is believed to have been driven into or near the crack, according to the police.
Many property owners have had water enter their basements. The emergency services are will not prioritise this. The County Administrative Board ("Länsstyrelsen") urges property owners check their basements and other areas that may be flooded.
Boiling advisory in the Skorped area
As a safety measure following heavy rainfall in Skorped in the municipality of Örnsköldsvik, water used for food, drink and tooth brushing should be boiled. Boil the water until bubbles are visible. Unboiled water can still be used for washing and hygiene.
Wells connected to the waterworks have been flooded and work is underway to flush both the wells and the pipe network.
The area covered by the boiling recommendation is Skorped, Mosjö, Uberg, Djupsjö, Sjöland and Överå.
School transportation affected
School buses and certain bus routes In Kramfors municipality, are having difficulties getting through on the roads, which affects pupils at Bollstaskolan, Nylandsskolan, Gudmundråskolan and Nordvik, among others. In Härnösand, the municipality reports that staff were able to reach all users on Monday morning and that school transport was able to run as usual. However, water levels remain high and there is a risk of undermined ground.
