The investigation of the summer's forest fires has been completed

During the summer of 2018, Sweden was hit by the most extensive forest fires in modern times. The investigation reviewing the management of the forest fires has now been completed.

The forest fire investigation shows that the efforts largely worked well, but also that there are shortcomings that need to be addressed. One example is that several parties need to be quicker at taking action on emerging fires.

Several measures and recommendations are proposed in the investigation. Among other things, access to aerial firefighting resources must be ensured, the information on the fire ban should be clarified and simplified and the collaboration with volunteers should be improved and organised better.
