SMHI warns of very high temperatures

SMHI has issued class 1 warnings for very high temperatures in the counties of Sörmland, Östergötland, Jönköping, Kronoberg, Kalmar and Skåne. Daily temperatures of 30°C or more are expected for three consecutive days.

Extreme heat can cause major health problems for certain groups such as the elderly, the sick and infants.

The heat can also disrupt rail transport.

To reduce the pressure on train tracks and prevent solar curves, the Swedish Transport Administration has decided to reduce the speed of several railways during Friday and Saturday. This can mean delays and cancellations.
