Pregnant women can be offered the vaccine against Covid-19
After a review of the current state of knowledge, the Public Health Authority has decided that pregnant women can be offered the vaccine against Covid-19 in phase four, in the same age order as other individuals.
There has been no evidence of increased risk of side effects for pregnant women during vaccination compared to other individuals in studies which formed the basis for the approval of the vaccines.
The mRNA vaccines being used today on people under the age of 65 are approved to be given to pregnant women throughout their pregnancy. For pregnant women without underlying illnesses, vaccination is recommended after the 12th week of pregnancy.
The Public Health Authority of Sweden recommends that pregnant women who have not been vaccinated take extra precautions to protect themselves from Covid-19.
