Ministry for Foreign Affairs on shooting in Brussels

The Foreign Ministry is aware that there was a shooting in Brussels on Monday evening and that there are reports in the media that two Swedish citizens have been shot. Swedes are asked to be vigilant and to contact their relatives.

Swedes are also urged to stay up-to-date on developments and follow the advice and instructions of local authorities. If you are currently in Belgium, sign up for the Swedish list in order for the Foreign Ministry to be able to contact you, download the UD Resklar app and activate push notifications for Belgium.

The Belgium-Sweden Euro 2024 qualifier football match, which was played during the evening, had to be interrupted for safety reasons. Shortly before midnight, the Belgian authorities announced that the arena where the match was played was being evacuated.
