Children in special groups 5-11 years are recommended to be vaccined against COVID-19
The Public Health Agency of Sweden recommends that children in special groups who are extra vulnerable to upper respiratory tract infections are vaccinated against COVID-19. The applies to children 5 years and older.
It is the Comirnaty vaccine that will be used, with a lower dose compared to what is given for children 12 years and older. The special groups which the recommendation applies to are defined by the Swedish Paediatric Association. The vaccinations can probably begin in January 2022.
According to the Public Health Agency of Sweden, the question of universal vaccination of children under 12 is being investigated.
