The Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ information for Swedes in Iran and Israel

On the morning of February 28, 2026, Israel and the United States launched an attack on Iran. Here we have compiled information from the Swedish embassies for Swedes who are in Israel, Iran, and neighboring countries. Swedish citizens are urged to register on the Swedish List, download the UD Resklar app, enable push notifications, and stay in contact with family members.

Information for Swedes in Israel

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MFA) advises against non-essential travel to all of Israel as of 28 February 2026. The advisory applies until further notice.

The Israeli authority Home Front Command has issued a nationwide red alert and urges everyone to identify nearby shelters, download the Home Front Command app, and engage only in necessary/critical activities.

Israel’s airspace is currently closed until further notice. All commercial flights are therefore cancelled. Swedes with upcoming travel plans are advised to ensure that the airline has up-to-date contact details and to regularly check the airline’s website for updates. The Embassy refers all questions regarding rebooking and cancellations to the respective airlines.

Information for Swedes in Iran

Due to the security situation, the MFA urges Swedes to leave Iran. The decision to change the travel advisory was made on 12 January 2026. The MFA has advised against all travel to Iran since 23 June 2022.

Swedes currently in Iran are urged to exercise the utmost caution and avoid non-essential travel on roads or staying near locations that could be targets of attacks.

Iran’s airspace has been closed and all civilian flights to and from Iran are currently cancelled. Disruptions to telephone and internet services are occurring, as well as traffic congestion on certain roads.

Information for Swedes in Palestine

Due to a deteriorating security situation, on 28 February 2026 the Ministry for Foreign Affairs decided to extend its travel advisory for Palestine. The following advisory applies:

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs advises against all travel to Gaza and to the West Bank provinces of Jenin, Tulkarm, Tubas, and Qalqilia, as well as to the parts of Nablus province located north of the city of Nablus.

Furthermore, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs advises against non-essential travel to other areas and cities in the West Bank.

The decision on the advisory was made on 28 February 2026. The advisory applies until further notice.
