Warning class 2 storm in the Northern parts of the Lappland Mountains

SMHI issued a class 2 warning on Thursday for a storm in Norra Lapplandsfjällen, the Northern parts of the Lappland Mountains.

21-24 m/s winds from the southwest are expected from Thursday midday. Throughout Thursday evening, the wind force will increase with wind from the west, and there is a risk of a storm with 25-30 m/s winds on the tundra. There may be snowfall or rain combined with the wind. The wind will decrease throughout Friday morning or late morning.

Definition for Warning Class 2 storm: Average wind of at least 25 mUs. Dangerous to stay on the mountain. Very difficult to walk upright. No visibility if there is loose snow. In the villages, the wind can reach hurricane strength. Class 2 is the most serious warning class for wind in mountain regions.
