SMHI (SWEDISH METEOROLOGICAL AND HYDROLOGICAL INSTITUTE): Warning for very heavy snow

Update 2 November 10.30: An orange-level weather warning is in effect for Gotland regarding wind and heavy snowfall. The weather may cause traffic disruptions during Thursday.

Original message: SMHI has issued a orange warning for prolonged and heavy snowfall combined with wind for parts of south Götaland from Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday and Thursday, snowfall will move in from the west over large parts of Götaland. In conjunction with the low pressure passing, the wind will  also increase. On Wednesday afternoon and evening, the wind speed could reach between 7 and 11 metres per second. The snowfall is expected to be strongest in parts of Västra Götaland, where 30-35 centimetres of snow may accumulate during the period. Locally, however, just over 40 centimetres of snow could fall. The snow will dissipate on Thursday morning and the wind will also drop. Freezing temperatures are expected both during and after the snowfall.
