The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (Utrikesdepartementet, UD) advises against non-essential travel to Iran because of the security situation.

This means travel with the purpose of visiting or tourism. The advisory will be valid until further notice and comprises the whole country, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Swedes visiting Iran should closely follow the current situation in the country and avoid all types of crowds. Foreigners can also be detained and subject to violence if they are in the vicinity of unrest.

Law enforcement’s activities and interpretation of the law may be unlawful. Foreign travellers can be arbitrarily detained and prosecuted without clear reasons.
