Transport problems to be expected because of snowfall

An orange level warning for intense snowfall has been issued by the Swedish meteorological agency SMHI. The warning covers the coastal areas of Ångermanland and Västerbotten up to Umeå. The snowfall is expected from Thursday evening to Friday morning.

An orange level warning is the second highest on the warning scale where red is the most serious level.

There can be as much as twenty or thirty centimetres of snow in certain areas, or drifting snow, both of which may cause traffic disturbances.

Traffic may be difficult on roads which have not been cleared and where there have been accidents.

Bus-, train-, and air transportation may be delayed and departures may be cancelled because of the conditions.
