The Ministry for Foreign Affairs advises against non-essential travel to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar

Due to the deteriorating security situation in the region, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs decided on 28 February 2026 to advise against non-essential travel to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. The advisory remains in effect until further notice.

United Arab Emirates

The advisory does not include transit (layovers) at Dubai International Airport, Zayed International Airport, Al Maktoum International Airport and Sharjah International Airport.

Air strikes by Iran have caused explosions in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Swedish nationals already in the country are urged to remain indoors and follow developments through the media and the instructions of local authorities.
