Moderna vaccine covered by pharmaceutical insurance scheme
A new agreement has been signed that means the state will bear the cost of any adverse effects of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
The agreement, signed by the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency, on behalf of the Swedish Government, means that all COVID-19 vaccines that were previously not covered by Swedish Pharmaceutical Insurance are now.
Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine is thus covered by Swedish Pharmaceutical Insurance with immediate effect.
The agreement will remain in force during a transitional period until a new law is in place.
"It is important that insurance cover for individuals is strong in the event of any negative consequences of a vaccine," says Minister for Social Affairs Lena Hallengren.
