Storm gust warning for parts of Jämtland

Update January 12, 16.00: A new weather warning for the Mountains in Jämtland and Härjedalen in Jämtland county has been issued. The warning is now a class 1 warning for strong winds tomorrow Sunday.

Update January 11, 15:45:  The warning has been downgraded to class 1 and the wind is decreasing.

Original text: The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI, issued a class 2 warning on Thursday for storm gusts in inland parts of Jämtland county. The warning applies for Friday, when northwesterly storm gust winds of 25 m/s are expected.

A class 2 storm warning has already been issued for the Jämtland mountains.

On account of the expected weather situation, the Swedish Transport Administration urges all road users to allocate more time to travel and to adapt their driving to the weather and road conditions.

Definition for warning class 2 storm gusts: Wind gusts over 25 m/s. Beware of structural damage and objects flying about. Greater damage to forests and a risk of disruption to traffic, electricity supply and telephone communication.
