Storm warning for the mountains

Update January 13, 11.00: SMHI has issued a warning class 2 for heavy snow in Norrbotten county (Norrbottens län).

Update January 12, 09.00:  The warning has been downgraded to class 1 and concerns now only the Northern parts of the Lappland Mountains (Norra Lapplandsfjällen).

Storm-force winds are expected from Thursday afternoon in the mountain regions in Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Jämtland counties. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI,  has issued a class 2 storm warning. Class 2 is the highest warning level for wind in mountain regions.

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI, has issued a class 2 storm warning for the Lappland, Jämtland and Härjedalen mountains. The warnings apply for Norrbotten, Västerbotten and Jämtland counties.

Storm-force winds are expected in the Lappland mountains from Thursday afternoon and in the Jämtland and Härjedalen mountains from Thursday night and early Friday.

Definition for warning class 2 storm: average winds above 25 m/s. Very difficult to walk upright. No visibility if there is loose snow.
